What is TS008?

TS008 sets the advanced security and general requirements for letterplates. The updated door standard PAS14:2016 now requires that an external door fitted with a letterplate has to meet the new standard.

In order to meet TS008 test requirements, the letterplate must eliminate the risk of an intruder gaining access to the property by means of physical force, 'fishing' and lock manipulation, whilst also maintaining clear access for postal items.

Certifire Fire Rated

The Soterian has been awarded the 60 minute fire resistant Certifire certificate for 54mm timber doors and has been tested to Certifire standards for uo to 30 minutes on 44mm timber doors. Receiving Certifire certification means that after stringent testing The Soterian has proven to withstand the effects of a fire and remains intact on the door for at least 30 minutes.

The fire rated TS008 letterplate range features a intumescent lining which has the ability to expand up to 50 times its size in order to seal any gaps in the door hardware. This in turn reduces the amount of smoke that is able to seep through, preventing fire spreading.

The Soterian

It's highly engineered features are what sets The Soterian apart from anything else currently on the market - making it both a highly secure and modern looking addition to the door.

The letterplate consists of a minimal flap projection of only 25mm from the door surface, giving a less intrusive feel to the door. In fact, the letterplate lies within the straight line from the hinge side of the door to the handle. This unrestricted door opening means the door can be fully open without the risk of the letterplate smashing against the house wall and causing damage.

In addition, the rounded flap design set against a shallower frame has been cleverly developed to avoid any sharp edges that could be a hazard for small children to bump into.

The innovative pivoting stay mechanism reduces the opening to 37° for protection against 'fishing', as well as preventing intruders being able to manipulate the cylinder and unlock the door through the letterplate.

Rigorous testing requirements mean that The Soterian can withstand thousands of openings without breaking, making it last even longer. Designed for 44mm composite and timber doors, the installation is quick and simple.

Another great feature of The Soterian is that there are no visible fixings to the exterior of the letterplate, preventing the outer frame from being unscrewed externally. Instead, the concealed self-aligning metal plate fixings within the interior of the external flap greatly enhance the strength and durability of the letterplate.

For the first time a fantastic mix and match solution gives your customer's the freedom to choose what finish they want for the internal and external frame. Whether they want a black inner frame and a white outer frame, or a traditional gold inner frame and gold outer frame - the choice is theirs!
